چکیده

Bata (Labeo bata), an indigenous, freshwater minor carp, is a great delicacy in Bangladesh. In its natural fishery, bata contributes significantly to the health and nutritional security of large section fisher communities However, it not popular farmed fish because small size slow growth rate. The induction triploidy, aimed at providing faster larger body size, could be appropriate for L. enhance aquaculture potential. present study, we induced triploidy by applying heat shock on fertilised eggs (that were maintained ambient temperature 26–28°C), 3 5 min post fertilisation durations ranging from 1 2 min. Four different temperatures, namely, 38, 39, 40 41°C, tested as treatments. optimum treatment combination was found 39°C duration, after fertilisation, yielding 100% triploidy. Karyotyping revealed 72 chromosomes triploid (3n), whereas diploid control (2n) had 48 chromosomes. performance hatchlings compared against experimental ponds. After 12 weeks rearing, heavier (p < 0.05) than their counterparts. survival rate triploids also better (69%) that diploids (56%). Overall, results (growth survival) over diploids, indicating farming can viable practice

a comparative study of the histoarchitecture of endocrine pancreas in labeo bata (hamilton, 1822), sperata aor (hamilton, 1822) and chitala chitala (hamilton, 1822)

the disposition and cellular organization of the endocrine pancreas were studied in three species of freshwater teleosts viz., labeo bata (hamilton, 1822), sperata aor (hamilton, 1822) and chitala chitala (hamilton, 1822) using histological techniques. in l. bata, the endocrine pancreas tissues were mainly distributed in the adipose tissue among the intestinal coils and adjacent to extrahepatic...

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to investigate the gill filaments of Labeo bata in India parasitologically and to describe the new Myxozoa parasite species, Myxobolus leafa sp. nov., which was determined. METHODS Fish were collected alive from fish farms from Manipur (India). Sporogonic plasmodia were removed with sterile forceps and observed under phase contrast microscope. For permanent...

Short communication:Effects of stocking density on growth performance and profitability of Labeo bata fry reared in earthen ponds

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of stocking density on growth, production and profitability of farming Labeo bata fry in earthen rearing ponds for a period of 60 days. Labeo bata, fry (mean initial length, 3.42 ± 0.07cm and weight,  1.02 ± 0.06 g) were stocked at 750, 1000 and 1250 decimal-1 in treatment-1(T1), treatment-2 (T2) and treatment-3 (T3) respectively, each with two ...

Growth performance of Indian minor carp Labeo bata fed varying inclusions of fermented fish-offal and mulberry leaf meal based-diets

Fermented mixtures containing fish-offal meal (FOM) and mulberry leaf meal (MLM) were used as protein supplement to partially replace fish meal (FM) in the formulation of diets for the Indian minor carp Labeo bata. The diets included a reference diet (20 % FM), three diets of fermented mixture of FOM and MLM (T2–T4) replacing 50 to 75 % of FM. Formulation of diet with 30 % FOM, 24 % MLM and 5 ...
